About Gahanna Hockey
The Gahanna Lincoln Golden Lions Ice Hockey program began in 1998 as a club team. In the 2002-2003 season the program advanced to the varsity level and in 2004-2005 a junior varsity team was added. Players must reside in the Gahanna-Jefferson School District, and attend Gahanna Lincoln High School. The season begins with tryouts in early November, and concludes with the Blue Jackets Cup (Conference Championship Tournament) in mid-February. The Ohio State playoffs follow, with the championship game at Nationwide Arena in mid-March.
The Lions are members of the Capital Hockey Conference, consisting of ten member schools in central Ohio. The other members of the CHC are the Dublin Scioto Irish, Dublin Coffman Shamrocks, Dublin Jerome Celtics, Olentangy Liberty Patriots, St. Charles Cardinals, St. Francis DeSales Stallions, Thomas Worthington Cardinals, Upper Arlington Bears, and the Worthington Kilbourne Wolves. For the 2008-2009, the Capital Hockey Conference welcomes the addition of Olentangy Orange and Olentangy Braves.
